Birchwood Park Golf Centre, in Wilmington, Dartford, has nominated the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance as its chosen charity for 2015.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance responds to over 2,500 serious medical emergencies in the South East every year and is available to anyone living in the region, 24 hours a day.

Melanie Drake, General Manager at Birchwood Park, said it’s a charity close to her heart:

“Last year we had several incidents with our senior members where we needed the support of the ambulance service. Each occasion was very worrying and due to our location there could well be a time in the future where we need to call on the expertise of the Air Ambulance as well, hence they are our chosen charity.

“I know a lot of people in the area owe their lives to the Air Ambulance. It’s an extremely worthy cause and a vital service. I’m excited to raise as much money as possible for them as our new charitable partner.”

Throughout 2014, the Centre hosted various events and initiatives which culminated in significant money being raised for the then chosen charity Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice.  Various fundraising events included a large community bake sale lead by on-site chef Sue Brame.

“While the Centre and our members did a fantastic job raising so much money for charity last year, we’re very determined to improve on our total for a cause that is very close to our hearts,” added Melanie.
