Burhill Golf and Leisure Group’s (BGL) flagship venue, Burhill Golf Club, Surrey, has begun work on an extensive renovation project across the facility.

Star feature of the 2016 project at Burhill is the new Halfway House to be built between the eighth tee and ninth green on the Old Course. The facility will offer players an array of substantial food and drink choices, both hot and cold, and all freshly made on-site.

An ongoing course renovation project that is to continue this year is the re-design and re-laying of bunkers on four holes across the New Course. This particular work heralds the fourth year in a six year project of continuous improvements to the courses at Burhill.

Operator of 10 venues across the UK, BGL are committed to continually financing developments in their venues. Colin Mayes, CEO at BGL is excited by the investments being made at the club:

“Here at BGL, we are constantly striving to renew and improve our facilities wherever possible. We’re committed to upholding the highest standards set at all our UK venues.

“Burhill Golf Club holds an exceptional reputation in the southeast and beyond, and we believe these improvements will ensure that members, guests, and staff continue to enjoy their time here and feel proud to be affiliated with our prestigious club.”

The investment plans not only concern course improvement, but work is also being undertaken in and around the iconic clubhouse. New carpets are to be laid in the Mansion House, and new furniture is to be introduced in the Lounge and Honours Bar.

Surrounding the historical venue, a new external lighting system will be installed, enabling the Mansion to be showcased in all its glory. There will also be a brand new terrace at the side of the house for members and guests to enjoy in the summer months, as well as new furniture for the existing top terrace.

The renovations, some of which began in February, will continue throughout 2016, with the Halfway House to be completed by the end of April, ready for this year’s peak playing season.
