Hoebridge Golf Centre, nestled to the south east of Woking, is to host a BBC news crew in April, showcasing the unprecedented success of FootGolf in the UK.

Hoebridge will not only play host to the BBC on the day of filming, but also elite FootGolfers, Reading Ladies FC, and local school children, all of whom will display how FootGolf is accessible to a wide range of ages and abilities.

The centre opened its fairways to the game in August 2014, having adapted the front nine holes of their resident par three course for the hybrid sport. Due to the unprecedented growth in demand, the club has had to extend the availability of the course twice in the last 18 months.

Mike O’Connell, Senior General Manager at the Centre, is delighted that Hoebridge has been chosen to showcase the popularity of FootGolf:

“The introduction of FootGolf has been a huge success for Hoebridge, and brought many people to the game of golf through a new and hugely popular format.

“We’re proud to have one of the most extensive golf facilities in the south of England, and with the addition of FootGolf, have been able to offer people of all ages and interests more opportunities to enjoy sport at the centre.”

When the BBC aired their first feature on the sport, FootGolf was termed ‘an abomination’, however three years on, the feature to be filmed at Hoebridge Golf Centre will highlight how the sport has helped courses realise significant income generation, and introduce new players to the golfing environment.

In 2013, the UK had three FootGolf courses on offer to the curious player, just three years on and UK FootGolf now recognises nearly 200 courses in operation across the British Isles. 2016 also heralds the start of a 10 stage National Tour with more than £30,000 of cash prizes on offer, which many are hoping will kick start a professional series for UK players.

Hoebridge Golf Centre continues to provide a broad range of golfing experiences for golfers of all ages and abilities, with a scenic 18-hole course, a time-saving 9-hole course with FootGolf facilities, plus a fun short course, ideal for beginners and families.

FootGolf is available every day from 12pm on the front nine of the Par 3 Short Course and is bookable by phone on 01483 722611, option 1.
