Host venue, Close House, is offering golfers the unique opportunity to play their way into the 2020 British Masters next July through a special, one-off qualifying tournament.

On Monday 18th May 2020, professional and elite-amateur golfers will travel to Newcastle to compete in an 18-hole qualifying event on the Lee Westwood Colt course at Close House.

This event is the first of its kind and offers the eventual winner the incredible opportunity to compete in the European Tour’s British Masters alongside some of the world’s best players.

Hosted by resident Ryder Cup legend and former World Number One, Lee Westwood, the British Masters will make its return to the North East from July 30th to August 2nd next year.

Close House previously hosted the British Masters in 2017 when nearly 70,000 fans came out to support the event. Next year’s edition is set to be even bigger as Europe’s best players jostle to win automatic qualification onto Padraig Harrington’s 2020 European Ryder Cup team.

“This is a truly unique opportunity for professional and elite-amateur golfers across the nation to play their way in to one of the European Tour’s marquee events,” said Graham Wylie, owner of Close House.

“We are delighted to be able to host this exciting one-off qualifying event and ultimately present the winner with their spot in next year’s British Masters. We can’t wait to welcome the players to Close House on Monday 18th May for what is set to be a very hard-fought day of competition.”
