Sprowston Manor, a Marriott Hotel and Country Club, has announced it is to work alongside England Golf to launch a number of new ‘Get into Golf’ initiatives, focussing solely on women and girls.

With help from Lauren Spray, the Women and Girl’s Participation Manager for England Golf, Sprowston Manor will run a series of golf taster sessions aimed at introducing golf in a fun and enjoyable format to those who might not otherwise have thought about taking up game.

The main ‘Get into Golf’ sessions, consisting of four one-hour lessons for £20 and overseen by a qualified PGA Professional, will run on both weekday mornings and evenings, as well as weekends, making them accessible for those with existing family or career commitments.

In addition to these initial sessions, a series of four follow on lessons will be available for £40, including £10 driving range credit. ‘On the course’ packages, suitable for golfers of all ages and experience, will also be available in the form of two one-and-a-half hour lessons.

The final tuition package, available for just £89.99 will provide golfers with six nine-hole credits, two 30 minute golf lessons, a driving range card and two leisure passes.

Sprowston Manor has also introduced an Ambassador programme, which will sit alongside its ‘Get into Golf’ campaign, and include four current lady members who have all experienced joining a new golf club for the first and the barriers that can often exist.

These ladies, who will act as a link between the current Sprowston Manor membership and any new golfers, will ensure there is clear communication channel within which information can be provided and questions can be answered.

The Ambassadors are a mix of long serving members, as well as new members who have only just taken golf up in the past few years, and so have a wealth of insight into what is required to attract new females to the game.

They will also be on hand on set Sunday’s throughout the summer for any new female golfers that would like to “drop in” and play some golf.  There will be no obligation to play a full round, and the green fee will be a nominal £10 for as many holes as they would like to play, whether it is three holes or a full 18.

Brad McLean, Director of Golf, Leisure and Spa at Sprowston Manor, commented: “The end goal of these initiatives is to attract new women and girls to the game of golf in a comfortable and fun environment.”

“Golf is a great game, and one that people of all ages, genders and skill levels should be able to enjoy. We hope to break down the barriers that currently exist between women and golf through implementing both the ‘Get into Golf’ sessions and our innovative new Ambassador programme.”

With a Zest bar that serves Starbucks coffee, along with a tropical themed swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and la Fontana Spa, Sprowston Manor provides the perfect environment for females of all ages to take advantage of exception leisure facilities.
