JIYAI SHIN CLAIMS 50TH CAREER WIN AT THE ActewAGL CANBERRA CLASSIC
ECCO® GOLF ambassador Jiyai Shin stormed to an emphatic six stroke victory at the Ladies European Tour’s ActewAGL Canberra Classic in Australia on Sunday.
Wearing ECCO BIOM® HYBRID 2, Shin fired a stunning final round of 64 (-8) to pull clear of fellow ECCO GOLF ambassador Minjee Lee, who won the previous week at the Oates Vic Open.
Shin’s final round included four straight birdies from the fifth and an eagle three at the par five 15th. She capped off a terrific week with a birdie at the final hole to extend the winning margin to six and finish at a total of 19-under-par.
Speaking to the media following her win, Shin said: “It was a good start to the year and I played some great shots so I want to take it to the next event.
“I’m so excited I can’t tell you. Royal Canberra is my favourite golf course in the world.”
It was the South Korean’s 50th win in a career that already includes two Women’s British Open titles and a stretch ranked as world-number-one.
“This morning when I came to the driving range I felt pretty good and I was hitting it well. I love Australia so to get my 50th win in Australia gives it more meaning,” she continued.
